Open Cell Foam Material

In general, Open-Cell Foams are more renowned for their cushion and airy feel, rather than their ability to offer an air-tight and water-impermeable seal. At Blaylock Gasket & Packing we offer a large variety of open-cell foam material ideal for a variety of applications. These materials may also be ideal for applications where impact, anti-vibration, and cushion are mandated.

If we don’t stock the ideal Open-Cell product you need, we can acquire it quickly, and at a reasonable price from our vendors. The following represent just a few of the many Open-Cell foams we offer.

Open Cell Polyurethane Foam: With resistance to compression set, Cellular urethane materials work where others won’t – gasketing and sealing integrity will be maintained. Cellular urethane materials provide a spring that won’t collapse under repeated pressure – parts won’t loosen after assembly. Components can be protected from impact and vibration. Urethane materials offer long life, are easily fabricated, and accept adhesive – for positioning anywhere. Urethane materials are used in a wide range of applications.

Applications:

  • Springs
  • Spacers
  • Cushion Pads
  • Vibration Mounts
  • Motor Mounts
  • RF Shielding (foil clad)
  • Gaskets and Seals
  • Shock isolation
  • Tape Substrates

Characteristics:

  • Bondable Surface
  • Low hydrolysis
  • High energy absorption
  • Low outgassing
  • Chemical resistance
  • Temperature Resistance up to 250°F (121°C)
  • Excellent resistance to compression set
  • No plasticizers to migrate
  • High internal strength and dimensional stability

Filter Foam: This product is true to its name – a porous material ideal for filtering larger particles. Filter Foam is lightweight, offers cushioning and low density. Contact us for your filter foam needs

Poron®: This Microcellular Urethane foam product from the Rogers Corporation is popular for a number of applications. Ranging from soft to firm depending on the grade, Poron is incredibly diverse. Even though Poron is open-cell, it can provide a water-tight seal, making it a good choice for electronics, military, oil patch, and other gasketing areas. Despite being very diverse, all Poron products provide chemical resistance, compression set resistance, and will not become brittle or break down.
