Offering tremendous compressibility and a wonderful seal at an economical price, closed cell sponge gaskets may be ideal for your project. At Blaylock Gasket & Packing, we are proud to stock a wide variety of products, including stripping, sheet material, and custom gaskets.
These closed-cell gasket materials make excellent gaskets and seals where high compression is needed. There are different types of materials for all of your sealing requirements. The medium to be sealed and temperature are factors that need to be considered when selecting the proper sponge for your sealing application. These materials are available in black and gray. The material is also available with a cloth laminate on one side in a variety of colors. The materials also come with optional adhesive on one side. Neoprene & Neo Blend Sponge
Neoprene sponge is everywhere. If you’re reading this on a computer, there is a good chance your mousepad is made from a type of neoprene sponge. Like to scuba dive? Your wetsuit is probably a foamed neoprene material. Enjoying a warm house on a cold winter day? If so, you can thank your weatherstripping, often made of neoprene and neo blend sponges.
Both Neoprene Rubber and Neoprene Sponge are described as multi-purpose, but don’t mistake that for low quality. Blaylock gasket sells more neoprene-type sponge than any other type. It’s affordable, high-quality and perhaps best-of-all, made right here in the USA.
NEOPRENE BLEND (Neo, SBR & EPDM)
Our most-used and most-economical sponge. Low water absorption, excellent anti-fungal properties. Available in standard and custom thickness and widths. Comes in black or grey and thicknesses from 1/32” up to 2”+.

Buna Sponge

Blaylock offers several closed-cell Buna Nitrile (NBR) sponge materials. These products offer excellent resistance to oil and petroleum-based products. These materials make great gaskets and enclosure seals.

EPDM Sponge

From Texas summers to North Dakota winters, no gasket material is weather-tough like EPDM – with premium resistance to ozone, UV damage, fungus and water. EPDM sponge is also a good choice for some chemicals as well. In short, EPDM is versatile, and Blaylock offers a wide variety of EPDM sponge materials, from soft, low compression-set materials to dense high temperature sponges.
