What is Natural Gum Rubber?
Sometimes referred to by its technical name Polyisoprene, Natural rubber is vulcanized from the hevea brasiliensis tree – commonly referenced as the rubber tree. Modern gum rubbers are often synthetic but have the same desired properties of gum from the tree.
What are the advantages of Gum Rubber?
- NON-MARKING: Natural Gum Rubber has a distinctive tan color (although black and white are also available) and is non marking. Many rubber bands are Natural Gum rubber.
- TOUGH: Natural Gum Rubber offers tremendous tensile strength and abrasion resistance, along with extended elongation properties.
- VERSATILE: Gum rubber’s natural softness allows it to conform to uneven surfaces.
