Buna Nitrile is an excellent fuel and oil-resistant sheet, commonly used in the oil industry for storage tanks and other applications where contact with oil or fuel is present. If your application involves direct contact with oil, Buna-N may be perfect for you. There are different grades of Nitrile and we would be happy to help you select the proper material to ensure an adequate seal. We also offer Nitrile extrusions, molded parts and O-Rings.
What is Buna Nitrile?
Buna is a widely-used synthetic rubber copolymer material based with acrylonitrile and butadiene. Buna is also referred to by its more technical name nitrile butadiene rubber as well. It offers tremendous resistance to oil and other petroleum- based products. Nitrile is one of the most popular elastomers, used in almost every industry.

Food Grade White Buna-Nitrile
Oily environments are not limited to the garage or oil-patch. Food-grade nitrile tackles the oils derived from the foods we eat and the ingredients used in the pharmaceutical industry. Plus, this material made with FDA white list ingredients is compliant to FDA Title 21 of CFR177.2600 . Another positive, this material is a non-marking rubber.

Cloth-Insert Reinforced Buna-Nitrile & Nitrile Diaphragm
Blaylock’s cloth-insert Buna Nitrile offers the same rugged dependability of our regular rubber, but with the added benefit of fabric reinforcement for increased strength and resistance. Our CI BUNA is impregnated with a 5oz nylon reinforcement to tackle dynamic applications. The cloth inserted material gives the polymer added dimensional stability in both directions. It is suitable for select diaphragm sheet applications.

Hydrogenated Buna-Nitrile (HNBR)
Hydrogenated Nitrile HNBR is also known as Highly Saturated Nitrile or HSN. HNBR is essentially supercharged Buna Nitrile. Increased hydrogen atoms give this NBR material increased strength and temperature resistance. HNBR offers the oil resistance you would expect from Buna Nitrile, plus excellent impact and abrasion resistance and good-to-excellent resistance to the following chemicals: Aromatic & Non-Aromatic Petroleum, Oil Resistance, Mineral Oils, LP Gases & Fuel Oils, Fuel, and Aliphatic Hydrocarbons. Tensile strength up to 200 PSI.
We also offer peroxide-cured NBR.

Transformer Grade Buna-Nitrile
Our Transformer Grade Nitrile is designed especially for uses in application using transformer oil – specially formulated to reduce electrostatics charging. This ASTM D2000 material meets GE A12C11E7.
