PTFE Gaskets

PTFE is a revolutionary product, and at Blaylock Gasket & Packing, we maintain a wide variety of PTFE products.

As PTFE fits FDA regulations, it is often used in food and drug industries. Additionally, it has the capability of withstanding extremely aggressive chemicals, solvents, acids, and caustics, while keeping low surface energy, and it is extremely resistant to oxidization. High temperatures are often no problem for applications of PTFE.

What is PTFE?

Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a thermoplastic fluoropolymer – utilized across a broad spectrum of industries and in many homes. PTFE is often referenced by its brand name Teflon™, which is held by Chemours. PTFE is chemically inert and mad with FDA approved ingredients.   PTFE sheet can handle virtually all chemicals in the 0-14 pH range with the exception of molten alkali metals and elemental fluorine. PTFE in naturally non-stick and heavily resistant to friction, wear and abrasion, making PTFE a popular choice for:

  • Gaskets
  • O-rings
  • Slide bearing pads
  • Anti-stick glide plates
  • Anti-friction plates

What are the advantages of Blaylock PTFE?

  • WIDE TEMPOERATURE RANGE: Many of Blaylock’s PTFE products can handle temperatures up to 500F and some of our materials can handle low temperatures to more than -300F.
  • RUGGED: Operating on the 0-14 pH scale, there isn’t much you can throw at our PTFE that it can’t handle.
  • AVAILABILITY: Most of our PTFE products are in stock and can ship same day. We can do custom skived sheets  and products of all sizes and shapes, including machined PTFE parts.

What is the difference between mechanical grade and virgin PTFE?

Many manufacturers offer a mechanical grade PTFE (made with reprocessed and reground material) and  a virgin PTFE (without fillers or regrind, pure). Blaylock only offers virgin PTFE sheet – meaning our products offer the utmost purity and stability.

PTFE PRODUCTS BY BLAYLOCK

VIRGIN PTFE BY THE NUMBERS
COLOR TENSILE TEMPERATURE THICKNESS
Brilliant White 2800psi Up to 500F (and some materials down to -300F) 1/64” to 1/2”

These numbers are a general guide and are subject to change at any time. Our team offers materials to meet any project. If you have special requirements for things like color, tensile, temperature, durometer, etc, please reach out to our team.  Just because material listed doesn’t meet your spec does not meet it is not available.

Properties and application parameters shown throughout this datasheet are typical. Your specific application should not be undertaken without independent study and evaluation for suitability. For specific application recommendations consult Blaylock Gasket. Failure to select proper sealing products could result in property damage and/or serious personal injury.

EXPANDED PTFE

Expanded PTFE offers the excellence you expect from rigid PTFE, but in a soft malleable form. Visit our landing page for Expanded PTFE  to learn more about  our top-of-the-line ePTFE products. This product handles 0-14 pH just like our rigid sheet.

Our dedicated ePTFE page also details our extensive line of expanded PTFE tapes and joint sealants. Our team is ready to assist.
