Non-Asbestos Gaskets & Sheets
Blaylock Gasket & Packing is proud to stock an extensive inventory of non-asbestos sheet material that can be used to create gaskets or sold by the sheet. Our non-asbestos sheet is a compressed sheet produced from a combination of aramid and other synthetic fibers and bonded with several binders, the most common being nitrile rubber gasket material (NBR).
- Blaylock now offers a sanitary non-asbestos rated to NSF 61 and US
FDA 21 CFR 177.2600
NBR is a popular material for valves and pumps that offers solid temperature and chemical resistance, thanks to its unique makeup. Common applications for non-asbestos gaskets are sealing, automotive, oil & gas and those that involve acids and other chemicals.
What is Non-Asbestos?
As the name suggests, non-asbestos is a line of gasketing materials free from asbestos. In previous decades, Asbestos, a naturally occurring mineral, was a popular ingredient in many gasket sheets. However, as more information came out linking asbestos to diseases like lung cancer and mesothelioma, asbestos fell out of use in society and in the gasketing industry. Today’s modern non-asbestos sheets offer the same tremendous sealing properties, without the risk.
Some people refer to non-asbestos sheeting as “paper” gaskets or as “Garlock™” referring to the brand name of popular non-asbestos sheeting.
What are the advantages of Blaylock Non-Asbestos?
- VARIETY: We offer sheets, strips, cut parts, gaskets and more from dozens of non-asbestos materials. We stock materials as thin as 1/64” all the way up to ¼”. There are specially formulated sheets to your specific application – and Blaylock stocks them.
- CUSTOMIZABLE: We can cut you standard ANSI flanges or precision cut parts, with tight tolerances and exact requirements.
