PTFE Gaskets

Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a gasketing material that is a synthetic fluoropolymer of tetrafluoroethylene. Blaylock Gasket & Packing’s PTFE gasket material offers tremendous flexibility for a variety of applications., including those with relatively extreme temperatures.

PTFE Material Properties

PTFE is a naturally clean and non-toxic material, meeting FDA standards, making this material popular choice in the food and drug industries. Naturally pliable, Polytetrafluoroethylene makes an excellent PTFE flange gasket. PTFE offers exceptional mechanical strength for gasketing. PTFE also offers tremendous resistance to chemicals, including harsh acids.

In addition to gasketing materials, BG&P is proud to be your source for other top-of the line PTFE products, including: PTFE Tapes, PTFE Joint Sealants and PTFE sheets.

Style 3070 PTFE Yard Gasket Tape is woven with strong PTFE yarns in a flat, tube-like construction. It is thoroughly impregnated with PTFE and can be treated with an inert lubricant (Style 3070 Wet) or furnished without the lubricant (Style 3070 Dry).

APPLICATION / SERVICE
Style 3070  gasket tape is flexible and compresses easily, and gasket extrusion is negligible. It readily conforms to flange irregularities and fills in surface voids even at low flange bolt loads. It handles virtually any chemical service with the exception of molten alkali metals, and can be used in most food processing and pharmaceutical applications. This style is recommended for sealing glass, fiberglass and metal flanges, and is commonly used for sealing tank and vessel lids.

Expanded PTFE:

Blaylock Gasket & Packing Expanded PTFE combines all the benefits of regular PTFE with increased compressibility. The result is an exceptional seal, which may be ideal for uneven flanges and surfaces.

Style 24B  Expanded PTFE Joint Sealant Tape joint sealant is produced by expanding 100% virgin PTFE into a highly fibrillated structure which exhibits characteristics significantly different than conventional PTFE. The expanded PTFE is much more flexible than regular PTFE and thus conforms easily to irregular and rough surfaces. In addition, the expanded material is easier to compress and exhibits excellent resistance to creep and cold flow. This style of joint sealant is supplied as a continuous tape with a self-adhesive backing strip to facilitate easy installation.

APPLICATION / SERVICE
Style 24B joint sealant is soft and marshmallow-like, allowing it to readily conform to and seal flanges with irregular and damaged surfaces. Because it is composed of 100% PTFE, it can handle virtually all chemicals in the 0 - 14 pH range and will not contaminate flow media. It has no smell or taste. It is neither contaminating nor toxic and it fulfills the FDA 21 CFR 177.1550 Perfluorocarbon Regulations.

Teadit 24BB gasket tape is supplied as a continuous tape with a self-adhesive backing strip to facilitate easy installation.

APPLICATION / SERVICE
Style 24BB easily seals flanges with rough or irregular surfaces and requires less bolt torque than other gasket materials. It is particularly suited for sealing glass lined and plastic flanges. Made from 100% virgin PTFE, this style can be used to seal all aggressive chemicals over the entire 0 to 14 pH range, except for molten alkali metals and elemental fluorine. It will not contaminate or discolor flow media and it is suitable for FDA service. It has no smell or taste. It is neither contaminating nor toxic and it fulfills the FDA 21 CFR 177.1550 Perfluorocarbon Regulations.

GLASS FILLED PTFE:

Taking the tremendous properties of PTFE to another level, Blaylock gasket & Packing offers Glass-Filled PTFE, which may be ideal for nuanced applications with stringent requirements.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION / APPLICATION
Style NA1525  PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) is a high molecular weight polymer and one of the most versatile plastics known to man. This PTFE sheet is filled with 25% glass fibers by weight. The filled material significantly reduces cold flow and creep and increases wear resistance compared to unfilled PTFE sheet. It can handle a very broad range of chemicals. Exceptions include molten alkali metals and elemental fluorine. This style is suitable for service at temperatures from the cryogenic range up to 500°F.
